Ready, Set, Gold! held its annual year-end Program Evaluation Meeting last week at the LA84 Foundation.
The purpose of the meeting was to look back on the year, provide some updates for next year’s operations, and collect feedback on ways to improve the program.
The gathering included 36 RSG! Olympians, teachers and school administrators.
Some highlights of the event included LAUSD Physical Education Advisor Chad Fenwick’s talk on “Avoiding the Emotional Filter Blockade to Exercise,” and a presentation by Channon Anderson and Mihr Yessain on the inner workings of the ICEF (Inner City Education Foundation) Public Schools system.
During the past academic year, it was announced that RSG! made an astounding 215 visits to 48 schools, educating thousands of LAUSD students about the benefits of exercise and motivating them to adopt healthy habits into their daily lives.
It was also announced that beginning next fall, all RSG! participants will be required to complete on on-line training course called “Flip the Switch,” which teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
We look forward to convening again during our 2018-19 Orientation program next September.
