Olympians and Paralympians Making a Difference in the Lives of LAUSD Students
Mary is a passionate children’s health advocate, educator, and life-long learner. In 2015, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and concentrated her studies on Child Life. At APU, she learned about the importance of play for developmental growth, and has applied this principle to her work with children.
Her previous work with children includes teaching at a preschool, coordinating community outreach events, assisting in leading a summer day camp, and volunteering at numerous schools in the Los Angeles area. Non-profit organizations she has worked with include Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, University of Southern California, Miller Children’s Hospital of Long Beach, and the YMCA of the Foothills.
Mary is currently studying Public Health with a focus on Child and Family Health at the University of Southern California. She is also the President of the Masters of Public Health Student Association. In December 2017, Mary will receive her Master of Public Health degree and strives to make a significant impact in the field by always putting people first.
