Chuck was a member of the 1964 Olympic Volleyball Team that competed in Tokyo. He also competed in two other international competitions: the 1959 and 1963 Pan American Games, winning a gold medal and then a silver medal.
While in college he played football, basketball, baseball, tennis and pole vaulted. They did not have a volleyball team at his university.
In 1973, he was inducted into his university’s Athletic Hall of Fame. After college he served three years in the Air Force as a jet fighter pilot.
During the 1984 L.A. Olympic Games, Chuck was in charge of sending 100,000 local kids to various Olympic events.
