Earlier this week, Olympic gold medal swimmer John Naber paid a visit to Franklin High School’s 9th grade PE class as part of the Ready, Set, Gold! program.
During the hour-long visit, John led the students in a series of exercise activities, and then provided a little history lesson on the Olympic Games.
Students learned the motto of the Olympics, “Citius, Altius, Fortius,” which is translated from Latin as Faster, Higher, Stronger.
As John pointed out, this does not mean the Olympics are about being the fastest, highest, and strongest. Instead, it is to push beyond limits and strive to be better than before.
This was perfect advice in preparation for the students’ FitnessGram testing early next year.
