Last summer, Ready, Set, Gold! Paralympian Katy Sullivan, who also is a professional actor, took on one of the lead roles as Ani in the play Cost of Living, written by Martyna Majok.
The production explores the interactions of abled and disabled individuals. The drama follows the lives of four people: Eddie, an unemployed truck driver; Ani, his ex-wife who’s left quadriplegic after a tragic accident; John, who has cerebral palsy; and Jess, his new caregiver.
Cost of Living made its world premiere at the prestigious Williamstown (Massachusetts) Theatre Festival, then received rave reviews during its Off-Broadway run at the Manhattan Theatre Club.
It was announced this week that playwright Majok won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, so congratulations go out to Katy for being such a huge part of the show’s success.
